We're about to embark on an epic quest of knowledge. Like many quests, there will be ancient tomes, ballads, fire-forged friendships, slogs through the marshes of homework, battles with the dragon of procrastination, and ultimately a treasure trove of wisdom for those courageous enough to seize it.
Why should you sign up for this adventure? Besides the fact that this class is mandatory, the video below expounds the many ways a good English education will benefit you in the future. |

This year we will explore the different worlds of mankind via modern literature. We will ask ourselves how different people view the world and the kinds of worlds mankind creates. There will be an emphasis on research and integration of many sources.
We will start off the first semester by examining our own lives, family history, and culture. As we explore what it means to live in a pluralistic society, we will practice group discussion and debate. The writing will be on short essays, short research, and creative nonfiction. Books for the First Semester:
In second semester, we will dive into the darkness, as we examine the concept of "created worlds." We will ask ourselves what sort of societies we do and do not want to live in and how we can go about creating them. The final project will ask students to write a short story, envisioning a future world. Books for the Second Semester:
